More than 30 food booths, carnival games, and stores have filled 9 blocks of downtown Moose Jaw.

Sidewalk days runs from July 4th through to the 6th, and it's sure to bring out thousands of Moose Javians each day.

Jackie L'Heureux Mason from Tourism Moose Jaw, said the businesses downtown have really embraced the event.
"The change in the last 8 years has been amazing. They actually look forward to it now and they see the benefit. We bring them 20,000 people and they do their job."

L'Heureux Mason said one of her favourite returning shows is the Deja Vu Singer Songwriter Showcase
"To give these 8 contestants an opportunity to put out there these songs that they've been working on, to give them that is a really big opportunity for them. And they get to win prizes too, so that's always great."

This showcase has given a real boost to performers in the past, including Tenille Arts.
"It was pretty amazing", said L'Heureux Mason. "She was one of our first winners. She came back and performed the next year and was very gracious about how this was a nice little spring board. She was on her way, it's not like we discovered her, but this gave her that $500 first prize that allowed her to do the next step that she needed to do. And now she's singing on the Bachelorette."

The showcase begins at 1 pm and they will announce the winner around 4:15 pm.

Jody Chell, who has been announced as the one taking over for L'Heureux Mason as the lead director of Sidewalk Days, has been working with sponsors to bring performers to the Notorious City during Sidewalk days. Together with Veroba's and Moose Jaw Cleaning Service, they secured Sask Express on July 5th.
"We worked really hard this year to get the sponsors, announce them and make sure we're taking care of them. It's been fun", said Chell.

For everyone's safety throughout the weekend, they ask that you leave your bikes, blades, skateboards, and pets at home.
"Everybody thinks their dog is the best behaved dog in the entire world, and they very well might be. But it's an unpredictable crowd, you don't know how many kids are around. We probably won't have to battle the heat, but just keep them at home. They're happier, and healthier staying at home."

The event will fill Main Street, and runs 10-8 pm Thursday and Friday, and 10-5 pm on Saturday.
