After a weekend that saw two large storms and three tornados, its appearing today could be another repeat.

Environment Canada has issued a series of weather watches for southern Saskatchewan, including the Moose Jaw Area.

Assiniboia, Gravelbourg, Coronach, and Swift Current are all currently under a Tornado watch, while Moose Jaw, Central Butte, Kindersley, and Outlook are currently under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch.

As of 2 pm, Shaunavon, Maple Creek, Val Marie, Leader and Cypress Hills were all placed under a severe thunderstorm warning.

Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts, damaging hail, and heavy rain.

Dan Kulak is a meteorologist with Environment Canada. He says one of the deadliest aspects of a severe storm is a part people sometimes forget about.

"We sometimes forget about lightning though. Lightening actually is the greatest threat. It doesn't sound like it, but lightning does kill more people in Canada per year than rain, hail, severe winds, tornadoes, and hurricanes combined. So really, lightening is your biggest summer threat."
