Souls Harbor Rescue and Riverside Mission hosted a banquet on May 31 to raise funds for the remaining cost of the new Riverside Mission building, set to break ground in Moose Jaw in the fall.

The organization has been planning and fundraising for the building since early last year.

The total cost of the building right now sits at $4.5 million.

The organization currently has roughly $3.8 million in secured funding. It’s currently waiting for approval on $1 million in provincial funding.

The banquet sat 260 people from the community and raised $5,000 to go towards the new building.

Executive Director of Souls Harbor Rescue and Riverside Mission, Joe Miller, says that any funding will help them reach their goal of breaking ground and starting construction in the fall.

He says people can go to their website to make personal donations.

“You go to the website and you just click on ‘donate now’ and the menu that will come up has an option there, and you just check a box that says ‘put my donation towards the building project in Moose Jaw’. So, it’s pretty simple, pretty straightforward,” he says.

People can also donate by calling Souls Harbor Rescue at 306-543-0011.

There are currently no upcoming fundraising events, but Miller did say that there are some events currently under consideration.
