Moose Jaw and the majority of Saskatchewan are starting Wednesday under an extreme cold warning.

An arctic high-pressure ridge has settled in over Saskatchewan, and although temperatures are sitting around -23, the wind chill Wednesday morning is making it feel like -41 with the daytime high expected to sit below -30 with the wind chill as well.

Temperatures are expected to drop again Wednesday night with the wind to -43.

The extreme cold should serve as a good reminder to always keep emergency supplies in your vehicles, such as blankets or jumper cables.

In this weather, exposed skin can freeze within fifteen minutes, which can lead to permanent nerve damage.

And with the extreme cold comes bus cancellations.

Prairie South School Division has cancelled the following rural buses for the day: Caronport, Central Butte, Chaplin, Craik, Eyebrow, Lindale, and Mortlach.

Buses will be running in the City of Moose Jaw and all other schools in Prairie South. Holy Trinity has not announced any cancellations.
