Aaron Ruston of Moose Jaw's Canada Day Committee says ""it's going to be a day that's bigger than what we've normally had."

He's referring to events planned for July 1 to celebrate Canada's 150th birthday.

"Being the 150th, we live in an amazing country, and we live in an amazing community, and I really wanted this year to be something where we can involve everyone," said Ruston. " We are hoping to get far greater numbers than we've ever had in (Crescent) park before, but in order to do that you have to bring in entertainment, you have to bring in things that people want to see."

The city of Moose Jaw is reminding us that all city departments, including transit will be closed on Monday.  The same schedule applies to provincial and federal government offices.

The one question on everyone's mind is what is the weather going to be like for the Canada Day Weekend.

For those in Moose Jaw, Environment Canada has some good news.  Regional Meteorologist Terri Laing expects a rather uneventful weekend when it comes to the weather.

"It looks like we're finally going to have a ridge of high pressure build in and bring some sunny skies, some more stable weather and some good heat starting over the weekend."

She adds there won't be a lot of wind with the system either, as for storms, Laing explains they aren't likely, but never say never.

Here is that schedule of events, which will culminate with the fireworks display from Hamilton Flats, between 10:30 and 11 p.m. You can listen to the fireworks soundtrack on 98.5 FM.
