The Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery's weekly noon-hour travel series is returning in a virtual format after a nearly one-year hiatus.

Each week, a local travel enthusiast will be regale audiences over Zoom with photos and stories of their past trips around the world.

The education coordinator at the MJMAG, Christy Swcheiger, explains more.

"Pre-COVID we held our presentations in-person in the MJMAG Performance Theatre. After March 15, we couldn't have any more in-person programming and we had to learn a lot about online technology. But now we can do our presentations again with an online community."

Swcheiger says their presenters have been eager to learn the ropes and convert to the online format.

"One really cool thing about doing our noon-hour presentations online is that we can reach a much wider audience. So its not just for Moose Jaw residents. We can reach people from across Saskatchewan, all over Canada, and all over the world even if they want to join us."

She explains what you can look forward to from each session.

"Our first presenter on January 20th is our administrator here, Vincent Houghtaling. He witnessed the 2017 solar eclipse in Fort Laramie, Wyoming. So he will be sharing his passion for the particular experience. Almost all of the presenters have presented with us before and are well-known in the community. Rick Schwabe is our newcomer to the series. He is a retired teacher and has spent his retirement doing lots of travel. We open it up to whoever is interested in learning more about these locations and see if they want to go there in the future."

Other presenters include Stuart Anderson discussing his trip to Haida Gwaii, Gayle Jones chatting about Portugal, as well as Rod and Elaine Stutt on their trips to Chicago and Mexico.

Swcheiger hopes that these presentations will help tide people over until they can travel freely again.

"This will just give people something to look forward to and fill the time since they can't go anywhere. It's just something positive to think about and enjoy."
