The new phone book's here!  A nice lady put one in my mailbox on the weekend.

Remember how exciting it was when we were kids when the new phone book came out?  I'd check to make sure our family's number and address were in the book and then check out the restaurant menus in the yellow pages.  These days I check to make sure I'm NOT in the phone book and then go to the menus.

The new book is about half as thick as it used to be.  The number of landline telephones continues to decline.

I got some great reaction when I posted a photo of my new phone book on social media.

A long-time friend of mine said, "I haven't had one of those in years.  Where do you get them?"

One guy suggested we could rename the Direct West phone book to "Direct to Recycling".

Another friend of mine commented, "They still make these?"

The best comment?  A guy who writes, "The phone book.  A lot of characters but not much of a plot!"

Thank you, my friends.  Thank you.
