The provincial government announced that the chalet, which was constructed in 1972, will be renovated and converted into a new visitor centre.

Work is expected to get underway this summer. The renovations are expected to cost more than $1.1 million and it is anticipated to open to the public in 2022.

The visitor centre will host interpretive programs as well as become a gathering place for park users. It’ll also feature a coffee shop and kiosks for businesses.

Renovations to the building will include some select demolition and completely refurbishing the interior and exterior of the building. The exterior is expected to include a large new deck.

There are plenty of activities happening out of Buffalo Pound Provincial Park this summer including the new swimming pool, Sask. Aquatics inflatable waterpark, hiking and biking trails, and mini-golf and axe throwing at Squirrely Putt & Play.
