Cypress Hills Inter-provincial Park will be one of three parks receiving water and wastewater system upgrades starting this summer.

Director of Facilities Branch for the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport, Byron Davis details the upgrades taking place at Cypress Hills.

"Included in that is expansion of an integrated sewage system at Cypress Hills integrated waste water system. That includes construction of a new lagoon cell, lining of the cell and some other related improvements."

Davis says the parks expansion over the last number of years has lead to the upgrades.

"Cypress Hills you know the campgrounds and the businesses and services offered at Cypress Hills Inter-provincial park have expanded over the years and we just found that to ensure sustainable and responsible treatment in the park that we required expansion of the sewage system."

Davis adds that these upgrades will allow for further expansion of the park as well as meeting the current requirements to ensure they are treating and storing waste water in accordance with requirements.

Upgrades will also be taking place at Good Spirit Lake and waste water improvements will occur at Moose Mountain Provincial Park.

Davis adds that they hope to begin work on Cypress Hills later this summer and have all improvements complete by the next operating season.
