The country, the province and the region grew, but Moose Jaw did not see the success that everyone else did over the last five years.

The new census report is out and shows our city only grew by 1.9 % from 2011 to the the spring of 2016, or by about 616 people, taking us to 33,890 residents. Meanwhile, communities in the area saw substantial growth. Briercrest saw a 43% increase in their population and Rouleau with a 19% increase.

Craik was on the other end losing 13% of their population, Mortlach also saw significant loss at nearly 10%. Down south, Mossbank grew by nearly 33 people or 10%, while Assiniboia lost 27 people a 1.2% decrease.

Provincially, Saskatchewan grew by 6.3% over those five years while the country grew by 5%.
