We are only one month away from the 16th annual 800 CHAB Radio Family First Radiothon in support of the Moose Jaw Health Foundation.

For 36 hours on Sept. 8 and 9, 800 CHAB will be live on the air at the Town ’N Country Mall with the goal of raising $138,000 for the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Hospital’s Pediatric and Women's Health Units.

The funds will go towards purchasing state-of-the-art equipment including a new wireless fetal heart monitor, neonatal incubator, phototherapy blanket for the nursery, pediatric glidescope and pediatric beds.

Pediatrics nurse Teryn Fisher outlined the importance of having this equipment.

“Equipment that fits our patients is really important because they're not the same size as adults that enter our facility. So it's important that we have equipment that fits our pediatric patients so that we can provide quality, high quality care to them,” she said.

According to the Moose Jaw Health Foundation, over 500 babies are born at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Hospital annually and hundreds of children receive care at the hospital.

Without this equipment, patients would have to travel to Regina or Saskatoon for pediatric care or the delivery of their baby.

“It gives them better outcomes and it makes their stay better when we can provide them care in our community without having to ship them to another facility because we don't have the equipment for them,” Fisher said.
