Saying they are more than willing to compare records of growth with NDP, our two local MLAs are defending themselves after a comment made earlier this week by the Leader of the Opposition

On Monday provincial NDP Leader Ryan Meili stated that he felt Moose Jaw could use better representation from our MLAs and even added that he feels the Sask Party is taking the Notorious City for granted. This is something that MLA for Moose Jaw North, Warren Michelson and MLA for Moose Jaw Wakamow, Greg Lawrence strongly disagreed with.

"I'm disappointed that he would take that kind of tone in Moose Jaw I think if you compare our record with what the NDP did when they were in power, there is significant difference. For example starting with the hospital, where there was a need for a hospital and with two cabinet ministers and a premier from Moose Jaw the NDP did nothing. When we came into power we brought in a brand new hospital with the first MRI out of the two major centres," said Michelson. "I'm sorry that he has chosen that kind of level of deeming and attack, rather than a cooperative spirit. My thoughts are he's obviously trying to create some election fodder, but I'm quite satisfied with what we have done in Moose Jaw and will continue to do so as far as representing the people of Moose Jaw and of Moose Jaw North."

Adding to Michelson's reaction Lawrence said that he takes issues that come from residents seriously and handles them immediately, but just because it's not done publicly doesn't mean that he isn't working on it.

"When my constituents have concerns I bring them up that day with wherever they need to go within government. There's a time and a place, I don't bring up constituents concerns in public because that's not our place. We deal directly with the Minister's offices to get the concerns of our constituents met," said Lawrence.

Meili also noted that he would be watching the future SaskPower build in our industrial parking, claiming that he feels the Sask Party go out of province and sometimes even further for large construction projects instead of hiring Saskatchewan businesses. Lawrence said the NDP is focused on "flinging mud" and said his focus will remain on the residents of Moose Jaw and people across the province.

"Making sure that we have the right people in place at the right time to do the right job. That includes advocating for companies and people right in our city but we also have to make sure we do the right job because it is the taxpayer's money that is going to be building this with Sask Power and the ratepayers."

Michelson agreed with Lawrence saying there was little truth in that statement, mentioning they began SaskBuilds, which is a corporation they started that ensures local people have a chance at vying for all projects within our province.
