Even with COVID-19 guidelines in place, the Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce still wants to recognize those doing good in our community.

While the 2019-2020 MJBEX awards ceremony scheduled for April 8 was cancelled due to the pandemic, those nominees and award winners will still be recognized.

Starting Jan. 18 on the Chamber of Commerce Facebook, nominees will be promoted and at 4:30 p.m. each day a category winner will be named.

“The people from 2019 deserve the awards, that were nominated for awards, need to be recognized as well. So, we want to get that done and this is about the simplest way we can do it. An easy, not the simplest, but the easiest way we can do it, especially with all the restrictions out there,” Chamber CEO Rob Clark said.

Clark is expected that the 2020-2021 MJBEX awards will be held in the fall of this year.

Meanwhile, the Chamber is moving ahead with the Citizen and Group of the Year awards but, like many events, it will look differently this year.

Nominations are now open and can be made by email or by visiting the Chamber of Commerce website

“With what happened this last year, there have to be lots of citizens and lots of groups that helped somebody out. So please put your thinking caps on and sit back and reflect on the year and let us know who should be nominated,” Clark said.

The deadline for nominations is Jan. 22 and the awards ceremony will be held virtually on Feb. 4.
