It was a long night for the Moose Jaw Miller Express and Medicine Hat Mavericks on Saturday night at Athletic Park.

The game's start was delayed due to weather and then the game was stopped again in the second inning for another rain delay.

It wasn't until after midnight that a winner was decided with the Mavericks walking away with a 14-4 win over the Miller Express, handing Moose Jaw its second straight loss.

Moose Jaw fell behind 1-0 after two and 5-0 after four. Medicine Hat added eight runs in the fifth inning and then tacked on one more in the eighth.

The Millers finally got on the board in the ninth, scoring four times to break up the shutout.

Catcher Noah Moore was 1-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. DH Adam Cook was the Moose Jaw hitter with multiple hits, finishing 2-for-4 with a run scored.

Ryder Yakel started for Moose Jaw, going 4 1/3 innings, allowing eight runs -- six earned --a on nine hits. He had three strikeouts and two walks.

Cortland Hampton allowed five unearned runs on four hits in 2/3 innings.

Ryann Gray and Blake Gallagher combined to finish the final three innings. Gray threw 1 2/3 shutout innings with three walks, while Gallagher allowed one run on three walks in 1 1/3 innings, adding two strikeouts as well.

Medicine Hat starter Jared Libke allowed just two hits over six shutout innings with eight strikeouts and no walks to pick up the win.

The Millers, who are now 6-2 on the year, will look to return to the win column when they host the Melville Millionaires at Ross Wells Park on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is at 4 p.m.
