The average, middle class hockey fan will have to come up with a paycheque and I mean a FULL paycheque if he or she wants a pair of tickets to the Memorial Cup in Regina this spring.

Regina Pats season ticket holders have first shot at the tickets today and the rest of us can try to get 'em on January 30th.  The packages, which include tickets to 8 games, will go for $700 and $750 dollars.  If you go to the Memorial Cup website and click on "Tickets", you go to TicketMaster where a single ticket will be $847.50, taxes in.  So, do the math and it's a $1695.00 for a pair.

I'm going to guess there are hundreds of local, loyal Western Hockey League fans who simply can't afford these prices.  However, I don't think you'll find many tickets available the day after they go on sale to the general public.  I'll predict a sell-out.

I'll also predict hundreds of Moose Jaw Warriors and Swift Current Broncos fans will be buyers - and then sellers if their team gets eliminated along the way.

Affordable or not, the 100th edition of the Memorial Cup will be memorable - perhaps the best ever.
