Provincial parks are already starting to prepare for the upcoming camping season.

The deadline for entering the seasonal campsite lottery is January 28th, with the spots to be awarded on February 1st.

Maryanne Wihak, Director of Visitor Experiences with SaskParks, suggests people begin now to think about their camping plans this summer.

"We encourage people to go on to the reservation website already and take a look at the opportunities that are going to be available. They can go onto the site and actually look at what each of the different sites look like. It's a good idea to do your homework before launch day because it does happen fairly quickly and you'll want to have a plan in place."

Wihak says that the chance to get nightly camping spots is coming up in the middle of April.

"The end of January we'll be announcing what the actually specific dates for each of the parks will be, what the schedule of park reservation launches will be."

As in the past, that launch will be staggered over a 10 day period with a queuing system in place during peak hours. Their website can be found here.
