Friday night the 2016 PRISM Award was unveiled by the Business Women of Moose Jaw (BWMJ). The event took place at the Grant Hall in Moose Jaw and was also a fundraiser for the Moose Jaw Transition House.

Crystal Zakaluzny with the BWMJ spoke about the night's significance.

"It's the kickoff for our big event in March," Zakaluzny said. "Tonight we're revealing what the awards are; the new categories that we're going to have and we're also revealing the actual necklace that Hillberg and Berk have designed especially for (the awards ceremony on) March 5th."

This year the categories of awards match up with the PRISM acronym: Perseverance, Role Model, Influential, Successful, and Mentor. Also added were awards for Lifetime Achievement and Youth Achievement.

The night was also one of the biggest fund raising events the Transition House has all year, and Alice Kelly was very grateful for the support of the BWMJ.

"This means that we can keep our doors open," Kelly said, "and help the women that are coming through that really need the help. Things like the life skills program and the renovations to the house wouldn't be happening without the Business Women's group in Moose Jaw."

Nominations are now open and will be until February 12th. You can get the forms on the BWMJ website.
