Wet, heavy snow and a gusty north wind have wreaked havoc on Moose Jaw and the surrounding communities.

The first snowfall of the season has resulted in the closure of several major highways in the region stranding motorists.

At the time of publishing, there is no ETA on the restoration of power or the re-opening of highways.

The following highways are closed:

The Trans-Canada Highway from Swift Current to Regina,

Highway 2 from Penzance to the U.S. Border,

Highway 36 to the U.S. Border,

Highway 11 from Aylesbury to Lumsden,

Highway 354,

Highway 301,

Highway 363 from Moose Jaw to Old Wives,

Highway 13 from Limerick to East Jct Hwy 36 and,

Highway 18 West Jct Hwy 36 to Rockglen.

Within the City of Moose, crews began grading priority roads Sunday morning, according to the city with operations containing overnight and thru Monday morning.

Many residents have taken to social media to share photos of snowy roads, shoveled driveways, and downed trees and branches.

In a prepared release, the City reminds residents to use the 'Report An Issue' feature on the City's website or the free City of Moose Jaw app to report broken trees or other issues for which the City provides services.

Additionally, the City of Moose Jaw Transit service will be unavailable Monday morning.
