The Laterveers own and operate Moose Jaw's Fountain Tire, a full-service automobile shop located at #9 Highland Road. They've been living, working, growing and thriving in our city for three years now.
"Things are going really good - business is growing and we have more and more customers coming in and telling us they really appreciate the service that we have here," John told us.
The Laterveer family came to us from Manitoba a few years ago.
"We spent a lot of time in Manitoba, both in Winnipeg and Virden and now we've been in Saskatchewan for about four years. We came to Moose Jaw when we got the opportunity to own and run our own Fountain Tire store and start our own family business here in Moose Jaw," John said.
"I spent numerous years working for Fountain Tire in a few other locations and other businesses in the tire industry in Manitoba," John added.
John says it didn't take long for he and his family to settle down in our city.
"We love it here. It's the people that are great in Moose Jaw. It's a nice place to raise our family, the city is beautiful, the surrounding area is interesting and the people are fantastic," John said with a smile.
The Laterveers have four children including 24-year-old William, 13-year-old Tatyana, 10-year-old Orest and Nicholia who is 8 years old.
The Laterveers give back to the community in a number of ways, including sponsorship and/or donations to organizations like 4-H, the Moose Jaw Miller-Express Baseball Club, St. John Ambulance and more.
And, while business has been steady at the local Fountain Tire, John tells us they have felt the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"It has impacted us...people aren't using their vehicles as much so that does impact business but, for the most part, business has been healthy - the farm community has supported us quite a bit," John said.
And that's a point John wants to stress - Fountain Tire in Moose Jaw offers a wide range of services for all people and all makes and models.
"Yes, we'll look after everything from your wheelbarrow tire right up to your biggest tractors, loaders and trucks right down to wheels, tires and mechanicals for anything you can think of," John boasted.

"Yes, we try to do everything we can. We want to be a one-stop-shop for our customers. We'll do it all for any size of vehicle - cars, trucks or tires on the bigger stuff but on the light-duty vehicles - cars and trucks - we do it all," John said.
"We've got a wonderful team here at Fountain Tire. We've got 15 associates right now - all dedicated to customer service. Our team has grown quite a bit over the last three years. It's a very solid, family-oriented team," John adds.
"Yes, we do offer 24-7 emergency roadside assistance for your basic tire needs and we also have emergency on-call mechanical service at the store... And we have three service trucks ready to go 24-7 all year-round," John said.
And while John tells us they do respond after hours, they're usually open for business when they take emergency calls because they operate on longer hours than most.
"We start at 7:30 AM Monday through Friday and we go to 7 o'clock in the evening. Actually, quite often, we're here later if emergencies are happening or if people need our services, we make sure we take care of them even if it's 7:30 or 8 o'clock. And we're open 7 days a week - 9:00 to 5:00 on Saturdays and Sundays," John added.
Another service John would like locals to know about is Fountain Tire's "Pre-Trip Inspection". It's a great idea for anyone hitting the highway for vacation.
"We do have our digital vehicle report, so we offer inspections, quite often they're done as a courtesy, and we provide a digital video report to the customer so they can see the total shape of their vehicle. It's one of the things we're most excited about.“
“The feedback and appreciation from customers is great. It's a simple tool you can carry with you on your phone or in your e-mail. It gives you a list of what your vehicle may need... and so you can do some planning as well," John told us.
And John also wants locals to know, even if you can't afford mechanical work or new tires, they can work with you and your budget, with on-site financing.
"We do have financing for customers for any mechanical or tire needs. We're here to serve our community. People have a need to keep their vehicles or tractors running, we're here for you," John said.
