Louis Boyd spent last summer in Moose Jaw and this summer, he was selected in the 2017 MLB Draft.

The North Vancouver, B.C. product was selected by the Seattle Mariners with 723rd pick in the 24th round of the draft on Wednesday.

Boyd – a shortstop – played in 11 games with the Miller Express in the Western Major Baseball League last summer. He posted a .170 batting average with four doubles, one home run and seven runs batted in.

This past season with the University of Arizona Wildcats, Boyd appeared in 65 games, hitting .240 with 12 doubles, 23 RBI and a .684 OPS. He tied for the team lead with three doubles during the College World Series.
