With rising temperatures in western Saskatchewan, and smoke billowing into the province in the east-central regions, it is a weekend of advisories and statements from Environment and Climate Change Canada.

In the western parts of the province, heat warnings are in effect as daytime temperatures are will be above the threshold for the warnings to be issued, and overnight lows will not be dropping low enough to provide any substantial relief. For areas such as Swift Current and Kindersley, daytime highs of upwards of 36° could be seen over the next 48 hours.

Meanwhile, the Humboldt area had a special air quality statement issued due to smoke from wildfires. The smoke is coming primarily from wildfires in the region. It is likely there won’t be relief from the hazy skies for a number of days.
