This time last year the Wynyard RCMP was contacted by a woman to file a report of historic sexual assault against Gerard Loehr, a former teacher for the Wynyard and Foam Lake schools in Saskatchewan. Since the initial report, five other individuals have stepped forward to provide authorities with information involving Loehr.

As a result of the investigation, the Wynyard RCMP has charged Loehr with five counts of sexual assault and six counts of sexual interference relating to incidents that occurred between 1990 and 1996.

During the time of the alleged incidents, Loehr taught at both Wynyard and Foam Lake schools, however, he did substitute at other schools in the area. Due to the length of time that has passed between the incidents and now, there are no exact details as to where and when Loehr may have substituted. He left Saskatchewan in 1996 and continued to teach at schools in Ottawa after 2000. As a result of the related investigation by the Ottawa Police Services, Loehr was charged in 2019 with sexual assault and sexual interference.

He was arrested in Ottawa on Monday and transported to appear in Yorkton Provincial Court on Tuesday. He appeared again Thursday in Wadena Provincial Court at 10:00 am.

Despite charges being laid, there still may be other victims.
