Concerned resident Walt Watterson will be addressing city council Monday night in regards to no legal back alley access to his property on Alder Avenue.

Watterson indicated his intent to build a detached back alley garage before purchasing the property in September of 2022. After purchasing the property, Watterson had a property survey report done that showed, while there was a physical back alley, there was no legal access to the back of the property.

Watterson is asking city council to subdivide to make the alley legal at the city’s expense, to waive any expenses to register a “shed” on the property, or give a tax abatement to residents on the block as long as the city uses the alley.

Also on the agenda, the Moose Jaw Public Library and the Moose Jaw Events Centre will be giving their 2022 annual reports.

The Department of Engineering Services will have reports updating city council on the South Hill Reservoir pump station upgrades and will ask for additional funding because the Crescent View Lift Station project is coming in over budget.

On the heels of the Homegrown Farmer’s Market getting approval to sell alcohol for off-site consumption, the Wakamow Valley Authority is coming forward with a similar application for their summer farmer’s market.

Finally, an update will be given for paved roadway and sidewalks, curb and gutter projects.

Discover Moose Jaw will have full coverage from Monday night’s city council meeting.
