As our lives slow down in the effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, the novel coronavirus,  locals on social media are writing about their concern for their family, friends and business associates.

Here's a social media post addressed to "Dear Everyone".

It reads, "As we are all going through this trying time together, please know that YOU are the only one that can make the decision whether you feel safe at work, school or ANYWHERE."

"The main thing is," she writes, "I can't afford not to work.  Hopefully landlords, the government etc....support us all.  Do not be afraid to pick up the phone and make that call!"

After reading that it struck me - within a couple of weeks, we're going to have friends and neighbours who won't have enough money to pay the bills, pay the rent or buy groceries.

And then we had Deann Little from the local food bank on the radio, telling us they're expecting and preparing for an influx of new clients in the coming weeks.

The local food bank's annual food drive is called "Better Together".  It seems to me the only way we're going to get "better" is "together".
