It's Throwback Thursday - a time to remember days gone by.

Locals were throwing it back on the Moose Jae Dayz Facebook page this week, talking about Superette Foods.

It was a full-service grocery store on the corner of Hall Street and 7th Avenue NW.  It was only three blocks from our place and it was handy to have in the neighborhood.

A lady named Lynn remembers it well.  She says it was her mom and dads's store and it was originally Small's Red & White and then Harvey Libby bought it in 1964.

Linda remembers her mom sending her to that store "for six slices of cold meat for lunch sometimes".

Dean remembers Superette Foods was owned by Vic Plante.  He's right.  That's what I remember.

But then Greg completely filled us in.

"After Small's Red & White it became L & S Supermarket Junior from about '66 to '68.  The partners were Harvey Libby, Stan Currie...and my father Maurice Veillard.  A newcomer to Moose Jaw, Lionel Congram, then bought it and it became Superette.  It was 679 Hall Street West - my first job at age 14 - working Fridays after school and all-day Saturday."

And that's all they had to say about that!  I enjoyed the content and the rare conclusion that fittingly finished that post.
