A social media post from our Moose Jaw Cultural Centre took me on a trip back in time - memories, many memories, of good times at the Mae Wilson Theatre.

"Fun Fact", the post reads, "Our 420-seat venue got the name Capitol Theatre 100 years ago this year!  Back in the roarin' 20s, the theatre could seat over 900 people and hosted road shows and vaudeville acts through the winter..."

I remember the Saturday matinees at the Capitol when I was growing up back in the 70s.  The place was packed with kids from all over town.  Local area farm kids would get dropped off while their parents did their shopping.  We had so much fun - watching movies, eating popcorn and firing spitballs at each other through our straws.

And, since we refurbished the place, many more memories have been made.  We've had the privilege of seeing some world-class acts in our theatre.

You know, Saskatchewan's own Jeffery Straker just shot a music video at the Mae Wilson last weekend.  On Twitter, he wrote:  "I'll never get over my mad crush on this room...She's a gem."

She sure is, Jeffery.  We're lucky to have her.
