So, it's clear some are irritated with some of the words, phrases and cliches that we're using during this COVID-19 pandemic.

I see a local guy posting on social media, "Go ahead.  Say 'New Normal' one more time!"

That's one of the growing number of phrases we're using these days.

TheConversation.com is featuring a piece on the new language this week.

Author Robert Lawson, an American professor, says, "Coronavirus has led to an explosion of new words and phrases" and "neologisms are being coined quicker than ever".

He's sharing some I haven't heard yet like "covidiot" which is "someone ignoring public health advice".  "Covexit" is the new word for exiting lockdown and "covideo party", a phrase being used for socializing on apps like Zoom, Teams and Skype.

Another one people are using is "Blursday", described as "an unspecified day because of lockdowns' disorientating effect on time".

Professor Lawson writes, "This new vocabulary helps us make sense of the changes that have suddenly become part of our everyday lives."

So, learn them and use the new words and phrases and please, don't be a covidiot.
