We'll start with a definition.  "Unwelcome;  not gladly received or not much needed or desired"

Many across our province are unhappy with the expansion of the provincial sales tax announced in last week's budget.

It'll come into play in October.  We'll be charged an extra 6% for tickets to sporting events, concerts and professional theatrical productions.  The tax will be added to movie tickets, museum visits, fairs, trade shows and more.  We're also going to get dinged on gym, golf and curling memberships.

It's interesting to note, most who took part in the DiscoverMooseJaw poll on the extension agreed "It won't have much of an impact".  However, there are some who are worried.

A friend of mine who makes a living in the golf industry writes, in part, "The sport, recreation and entertainment businesses are just trying to adjust back to normal circumstances and working hard to offer activities and events for people to get back out and enjoy life again...This isn't a small increase and it will directly affect our bottom line...It is pretty upsetting when the government places additional tax on quality of life!"
