I wouldn't say it was an overwhelming emotional moment, but it did make me happy.

I just happened to be driving past Optimist Park on South Hill - Moose Jaw early yesterday afternoon when I saw them - girls playing catch and preparing for fastball practice.  I heard the sounds of laughter and softballs smacking baseball gloves.  I believe those sights and sounds are little things many of us have taken for granted in the past.

Later in the day I saw a social media post from some local grandparents.  They shared some photos of their grandson playing baseball.  One of their friends called it "a great day in May".

Yesterday marked "Step 1" in the Province of Saskatchewan's Re-Opening Roadmap.  Measures for youth and adult outdoors sports were lifted.

We can now have up to 150 people at those public outdoor gatherings and residents in our long-term care and personal care homes can now welcome 2 visitors at a time indoors and 4 people if they gather outdoors.

If we continue to follow the vaccination plan and bring COVID-19 cases down, Step 2 will take effect June 20th.

Let's do it.
