It's a discussion I've had many times with many people.  It seems to be a popular topic for the hockey commentators these days as well.  People are saying the Toronto Maple Leafs are the only "Canadian" team remaining in the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Well, it's true, they are they only Canadian "based" team left in the hunt but, I like to point out, every NHL team has Canadian flavour.

Canadian boys used to dominate the rosters.  That has changed over the years.  Still, on average, the NHL is made up of 45% Canadians.

In fact, just the other night, after the St. Louis Blues eliminated the Winnipeg Jets, Don Cherry pointed out the Blues had 16 Canadian boys in the line-up when they beat 'em along with three Canadian coaches and two Canadians in the broadcast booth.

In fact, the Blues have 20 Canadians on their 28 man roster.  The Jets?  11 of 28.

It's also interesting to note, the Blues have three Saskatchewan-born players suiting up this spring.

Take that for what it's worth.
