Shortly after feeling the love from the annual CP Holiday Train last week, the Moose Jaw and District food bank just received another egg-celent donation.

The Saskatchewan Egg Producers dropped off over 400 dozen eggs to go into food hampers that will be passed out over the next little while.

"It's just incredible to get it at this time of year, our majority of food and monetary donations all come in between October and December, so this helps us to be stocked for the year," said Deann Little, Assistant, and Development Manager at the Food Bank.

She said eggs are something they regularly hand out so having some on hand that didn't have to be paid for is a big help.

"We do put a dozen eggs in each hamper that we hand out, we just normally have to purchase them all the time. When we're handing out roughly 360 hampers a month, we go through a lot of eggs. To get this large donation of eggs... it's fantastic and saves us a few dollars as well."

Little noted that whether a donation is a food item or monetary, the supplies for their monthly hampers always stay in our city and support local residents in need. She said they're always so grateful for the generosity of Moose Javians.
