Agriculture Minister Lyle Stewart announced more money for crop related research on the 14th of January.

The Province investing more than $1.5 million dollars to 6 wheat related projects.

"We have some issues that can be aided by research. Very current issues like head blight and wheat that's causing problems to both yield and quality. I'm confident that research will find a solution to that in a reasonably near future," Stewart said.

Industry and government partners are providing nearly $1.7 million dollars in additional funding for the research projects.

Among those partners the Alberta Wheat Commission, the Manitoba Wheat and Barley Growers Association, Western Grains Research Foundation and the Global Institute for Food Security.
