The home invasion that happened on Sunday afternoon still has many questions left without definitive answers.

The invasion which left a home owner with minor injuries, involved three suspects, one of them armed with a sawed off shotgun. The suspects assaulted the home owner and took off with six long-barrelled firearms.

The victim, who was cleared by first responders for injuries and did not require further medical attention, stated the suspects appeared to be in their 20’s even though they were all described as being dressed in black and had their faces covered with balaclavas.

The home invasion, which happened at 4:30 pm, not 7:30 pm that was previously reported, did not prompt the RCMP to send out a town-wide advisory.

As the suspects left the residence with seven firearms in total, Leanne Flahr, RCMP communications representative, stated she is not sure why the officers decided it was not a situation that required immediate notification to the other residents.

“Given the circumstances and the situations at hand that required their [the officer’s] attention, an advisory did not get sent out,” that is until Monday afternoon at approximately 3:00 pm.

Local officers did however do a neighbourhood inquiry later that evening, talking to most of the residents in the immediate area. Flahr shared that to her knowledge, the neighbours did not report anything out of the ordinary that day.

Flahr said they are looking for more answers and attempted to get in contact with the victim yesterday and were unsuccessful.

One important question that remains unanswered is whether or not the attack was targeted or random.

“When the victim came into the station that night, he was in shock and we do not know at this time if he may have known the suspects or if it was targeted or random.”

Age and other details regarding the victim have not been released as he wishes to keep his identity private in this matter.
