The provincial government is reporting two new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the provincial total to 1,611 cases.

The new cases are located in the Far North West (1) and Saskatoon (1) zones.

Forty-four cases are considered active. Sixteen more people recovered to bring the total to 1,543.

Three people remain in hospital. One person is receiving inpatient care in Saskatoon and two people are in intensive care in Saskatoon.

Of the cases so far, 20 of the 44 active cases are in communal living settings.

To date, 136,333 COVID-19 tests have been performed in Saskatchewan. As of Aug. 26, when other provincial and national numbers were available from the Public Health Agency of Canada, Saskatchewan’s per capita rate was 97,632 people tested per million population. The national rate was 140,838 people tested per million population.

On Thursday, 1,561 COVID-19 tests were performed in Saskatchewan.
