The last few years have been a little chaotic when it comes to student representation at Saskatchewan Polytechnic.

You may remember that last year the Moose Jaw and Regina student associations were forced to leave the campuses they were on. The Moose Jaw group left without a fight, while the Regina group fought the eviction in court and lost. The groups provided health and dental coverage as well as advocated on behalf of the students.

Now the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Students Association (SPSA), which was previously only in Prince Albert and Saskatoon campuses, has moved in to provide both health and dental coverage, as well as representation for students in Moose Jaw and Regina as well.

Vann Cortez is the President of the SPSA, and says that it is a big advantage for students to have the same group in all campuses.

"Having one student association, providing services and representing all of our campuses, means that it doesn't matter where a student goes, they would have equatable services at all four locations. The SPSA will be representing all 28,000 distinct students in the board of governors for Saskatchewan Polytechnic."

Cortez said they have an office on each campus with staff, and will be holding elections soon to fill out the rest of the reps in Moose Jaw, like the role of Vice President.
