Not long ago, Moose Jaw was host to various Fire Chiefs from all the prairies during the SAFC conference.

The four-day event took over a few locations in our city but mostly operated out of Mosaic Place in Moose Jaw's downtown core. Not only did this conference share valuable information with those in attendance, but a side project also ended up raising money for a local agency.

An auction was held during the conference that saw a piece of artwork and home decor collecting bids and eventually awarded to the highest donor.

"The people who donated the items that were up for auction, it was their wish that any money generated would go to the Humane Society. Certainly, it's a great cause; we were able to go over there and share some time with them when we made the donation. The people working there are just fantastic and it's a worthy cause. And I'm so glad that we were able to help them out and the Fire Chiefs from around the province that were so generous - it made it even better. We're really happy that we were able to make a bit of a difference for them."

The two items were a firefighter print from the Yvette Moore Gallery and a fire hydrant clock from Emerald Custom Creations. With both these items in the auction, the SAFC handed over a cheque of $1,000 to the Moose Jaw Humane Society.
