The City of Moose Jaw is advising residents of repairs being done on the Highway 1 overpass on the far north side of town.

The repairs are being done to fix damages caused by an accident back in June 2017. The Ministry of Highways will be performing repairs to the overpass, which will close the Highway 1 eastbound exit from Highway 2.

Doug Wakabayashi, Executive Director of Communications for the Ministry of Highways, says these repairs should serve as a reminder for truck drivers.

"The need for this work is an opportunity to remind people that truck drivers do have an obligation to know the height of their load, and any overhead structures on their route. That information is always available on the web or from one of our Ministry offices."

"There will be minor delays and disruptions. Work needs to be done underneath the bridge so there will be lane closures. Most of the time at least one lane of traffic will be available in each direction. Certainly, especially at peak hours, that will cause some delays for motorists. The usual speed restrictions will be in place so motorists can expect to slow down to 60km/h when they're going through the area."

The work is expected to be completed by March 31st.

Northbound traffic wishing to access Highway 1 east will be detoured onto Thatcher Drive East.
