The public offering on petroleum and gas rights in the province raised $1.5 million for the province’s coffers, with most of the activity focused on the Swift Current area.

There were 38 leases purchased April 9, with a total of 5,595.875 hectares purchased. Swift Current’s area had 14 leases for a total of 2,106.288 hectares sold for $914,349.97. This is the highest average per hectare revenues in the western provinces in both the fiscal and the calendar year.

Energy and resources minister Bronwyn Eyre said the province is “home to some of the best and most cost-effective conventional oil and gas development opportunities you will find anywhere. It’s not surprising that when we talk to audiences around the world about the investment opportunities in Saskatchewan, we are often talking about oil and gas.”

The next scheduled public offering for oil and gas rights will be June 4, 2019.
