Off the midway and behind all the rides, some of the hardest workers of the weekend were in the barns.

Alongside the annual Hometown Fair the Moose Jaw Inter-4H Beef Show and Sale was taking place, wrapping up the region's season before summer.

12 months of hard work went into preparing for this past weekend, including schedules full of feeding, haying, and working with their steers and heifers so that they might be contenders for the title of Grand Champion

The weekend show culminated with awards in many categories. Luke Andrews took a cash prize and trophy for his heifer.

"I got Grand Champion Overall-Female," said Andrews. "You compete with cow calves against heifers and then (the judge) picks which one he likes."

The regional event saw six clubs, including Moose Jaw, Bethune and Old Wives participate. The weekend wrapped up with the steer sale.
