Over $2.5 million has been donated by the people of Moose Jaw to the Health Foundation over the year.

Moose Jaw Health Foundation Board Chair James Murdock is very happy with the level of support people here have given to the foundation.

“That’s a huge number, but once again, it just goes to show you that Moose Jaw truly does have the best donors around,” he said. “And time and time again, they provide.”

Murdock, says we should all be proud of what we do for each other.

“We all know that the government will provide the necessities, but the extras that we deserve, we do have to raise money for,” he said. “And it shouldn’t just be the Calgarys and Edmontons and Vancouvers that have the best, state of the art equipment.”

Murdock explained the money comes from the variety of special events we support and attend from the Festival of Trees to the Little Princess Ball.

“Larger employers, local businesses, organizations and surrounding communities also gave of their time and gave to the campaign,” he said.

Health care professionals appreciate the work of the foundation.

“They care so much about the quality of care, that they’ve changed the way we serve our patients and support our caregivers,” said registered nurse Vi Reaman.

Wednesday’s health care celebration comes exactly two weeks before the 800 CHAB Family First Radiothon. We will be raising money for more, state-of-the-art medical equipment. The goal this year for the radiothon is to raise $150,000 for new surgical equipment.

All the money raised locally stays here in the Moose Jaw area.
