With eleven different stops around Moose Jaw Friday, Farm Credit Canada's (FCC) Drive Away Hunger Food Drive was a huge success for the organization and our local food bank.

Although an exact total isn't available yet, thousands of pounds were donated as the Moose Jaw and District Food Bank was able to fill eight pumpkin bins with donated food.

"[It's great to be] giving back to the communities that we live and work in and teambuilding with our team and people who support it, and it's fun to see the kids, the kids are excited about it and they help," John Olson, the FCC's Senior District Director for the Regina District said. "They do, probably most of the work getting everything loaded. It's a fun day and it's a fun time to give back to the community."

Moose Jaw is the second last stop on the FCC's tractor tour, as they will stop at a total of 8 communities by the end of their tour. Of those eleven stops, ten of which were local schools.

"We have participated every year and the kids enjoy and I think it's important for them to realize that there are some people that are not as fortunate as they are," Gail Cyrenne, Principal of St. Mary's School said. "So I think it's important for the students to realize they need to give back because the community does give a lot to our school."

This was the 15th annual Drive Away Hunger tour for FCC and, since 2004, has provided more than 40 million meals that food banks can provide.
