Art classes and programs are starting up at Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery.

Due to the current COVID-19 circumstances, some classes will be virtual, but they are still offering in-person sessions.

Registration is required for all classes, MJMAG Educator Coordinator Christy Schweiger says, “All of our programs have got registration online. We want to minimize our touch factor. So, they [people] can go to our website at www.mjmag.ca. With our school programs there’s a link under learning. With our public program there’s an art class link on there as well.”

Coming up the MJMAG is offering in-person classes for teens and adults such as painting watercolor projects on Fridays from October 15 to November 5, drawing using geometry starting in November, and many more classes available.

All class fees are listed on the website.

For teachers and schools, the MJMAG put together online programs that will be launching on Monday, “What we do is we provide kits and instructions and I provide a virtual link and we do our art projects and look at the exhibitions virtually. So, we are still providing some really good art programs for schools and teachers to help supplement their art education.” says Schweiger.

Teachers can find access to these programs on the MJMAG website as well.

If kids want to continue learning and practicing their art outside of class, the MJMAG is ready for them too.

The museum is also offering classes for both amateur and intermediate kids.

Many of those classes have a fall theme but there’s also advanced drawing classes for children age 9 and up.

The museum isn’t stopping there either.

They are making art class appealing and accessible to everyone with their ‘createabilities’ classes.

Inviting people with learning disabilities and special needs to participate in fun and creative environments.

The Art Gallery also released to new exhibitions called Blazes Along The Trail: Exploring David Milne’s Imaginative Vision and Unsettle by Belinda Harrow.

The MJMAG is open from 1 pm to 5 pm Tuesdays through Sundays and has special openings every Wednesday morning from 10 am to 12 pm for seniors and immunocompromised people.
