O, Canada!

Canada Day will be celebrated in Moose Jaw and area with a lot of things going on in the city.

Jackie L'Heureux Mason with Tourism Moose Jaw explains how the day starts.

“The celebrations will kick off with O Canada by Annie MacLeod and a performance by her on the amphitheatre stage at Crescent Park, and that will be at 11 o’clock in the morning,” said L’Heureux Mason. “And then you’re going to look forward to a full stage of entertainment. We’ve got Smilin’ Rylan, who is very, very good with children. It’s the first time we’ve been able to afford to bring in a professional children’s performer.”

Then, they are bringing back the living library with giant yard games outside.

“I believe there’s about 14-15 booths, or a couple more than last year, where you can go and try different things that are going on in the city,” Heureux Mason said. “You can go and try out jiu-jitsu, or football with the Moose Jaw Minor Football Association. Different things that go on in the city, so it’s sort of a test run, a try before you buy kind of thing.”

And if you’re hungry, food is right down there.

“We’ll have a nice food court there this year, with kind of a nice variety of both ethnic and traditional food from food trucks,” said L'Heureux Mason.

“We’ll have cupcakes and different things you would expect from the Canada Day ceremony,” she said.

Then, courtesy of the Moose Jaw Kinsmen, the fireworks will be popping off at dusk at Hamilton Flats, weather permitting.

The Day starts at 10 am in Crescent Park, and will go until 6 pm. During that time, Park Art will go from the start in the morning until 4 pm, with the Canada Day Ceremony at 5 pm. As well, the Moose Jawg Charity Road Race will be starting early in the morning, at 8:30 am.
