The Moose Jaw Warriors' top pick in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft has joined the team for the final week before the holiday break.

Forward Eric Alarie is practicing with the team and could possibly make his WHL debut this weekend when the Warriors close out the first half with a home-and-home against the Regina Pats.

"I'm really excited to be here, it's really fun playing with top-end guys and just being in practice, you see that these guys really know how to play and it's real fun being with them," said Alarie.

The Winnipeg product is putting together a stellar season with the Rink Hockey Academy's Midget Prep team. Alarie currently leads the team with 23 points in 20 games this season.

"It's been going really well, I just like being my teammates, I have some good chemistry with my linemates and I've got to give them credit for my start," said Alarie.

After spending some time around the team during training camp, Alarie feels like his game fits better with the current Warriors coming in now, although he sees areas that he still needs to work on.

"I'm more used to the pace now, but it's still a really higher pace than back home," said Alarie.

"I'm aware in all three zones [now] and I just try to move the puck faster, that's something that I've been trying to improve… playing in the WHL, everyone has to move the puck fast and I'm trying to bring that to my game."

With the chance to experience more of the Western Hockey League over the next week, and again after the holidays, Alarie said he's going to try to soak in everything that he can.

"I'm just going to go 110-percent," he said.

The Warriors will close out the first half with a home-and-home against the Pats this weekend, starting on Friday in Regina. On Saturday, the Warriors are hosting their annual Teddy Bear Toss game at Mosaic Place.
