The Moose Jaw Miller Express are showing early in the season that they have that knack for finding a way to win ball games.

Trailing 10-9 heading into the ninth inning on Sunday, the Millers scored four in the top half of the frame to secure a 13-10 win over the Brooks Bombers.

The win gave the Millers a sweep of their two-game set with the Bombers after winning 12-5 on Saturday. Moose Jaw is also off to a 4-0 start to the Western Major Baseball League season.

"Everything hasn't gone exactly to plan, but a win is a win is a win, so there’s not a whole lot of complaining going on here," said Millers manager Michael Hunt.

"We try to get at least a split of these Alberta and we ended up sweeping it, so we're looking forward to getting back on the field at home."

The Millers hit double digits in both wins over the weekend as the bats continue to lead the way for Moose Jaw in this young season. Eric Marriott, Ty Roseberry and Adam Cook all hit their first home runs of the season in Sunday’s win.

The Millers managed just seven hits, but also worked nine walks in the win.

"We're hitting really well, whether we're putting in guys that have been here before or guys that are new, everybody that we're putting at the plate is contributing in a little way or a big way," said Hunt.

Moose Jaw fell behind 2-0 after the first and 3-1 after the third, but they answered with four runs in the fourth, which started an offensive back-and-forth over the next three innings.

The Millers scored two more in the top of the fifth to take a 7-5 lead and then they tacked on two more in the sixth, but the Bombers struck back with a five-run bottom of the sixth to put them in front 10-9.

Moose Jaw was able to hold Brooks off the board over the next two innings before going to work in the ninth inning to pick up the win.

"It was pretty ugly, there was a lot of walks and hit-by-pitches, some sloppy play all over the place, we leaned on our offence and they came through in the end," said Hunt.

Every Millers hitter scored a run in the win. Cook led the way with a 2-for-3 day at the plate with three runs scored, two hit-by-pitches and an RBI.

Marriott was 1-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI, while Roseberry drove in a pair of runs and walked twice. Ty Barclay and John Raybourn also walked twice for Moose Jaw in the win.

Millers starter Mason Garispe allowed five runs -- four earned -- on eight hits and three walks over four innings of work. He also struck out four.

Reliever Jesse Marks was tagged for five runs on seven hits with two walks and one strikeout in his two innings.

After that, Nick Falco struck out two over two shutout innings and John Prudhom earned the win with a scoreless ninth inning with one strikeout.

"Every year your pitching staff is a big part of your success and Mason didn't have the best start of the previous three games that we had, but he wasn't terrible, he got his pitch count up and that's why he could only go four innings," said Hunt.

The Millers scored five runs -- four earned -- on three hits and three walks off Brooks starter Jordan Johnson. He struck out three.

Brooks reliever Cale Thornton took the loss after surrendering four runs on one hit and one walk in the ninth inning.

The Millers will now look to continue their winning ways when they return to the field at Ross Wells Park on Tuesday to host the Regina Red Sox. First pitch is at 7 p.m.
