The Moose Jaw Speed Skating club had a successful meet Saturday in Caronport.

Several of their skaters achieved personal best times and several hit the podium with their finishes.

Coach with the club Verna Kergan said there were some of the club's younger skaters getting some valuable experience.

“We had some skaters that are skating for the first time this year in competition this year, and so for them to come out with some PBs it’s great to see, and they’re pretty excited about it,” Kergan said.

While over 70 skaters from the youngest to the masters division competed, none of it would have been possible without the help of volunteers.

“Without the volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to hold a successful meet,” Kergan said. “The volunteers are important for us to be able to succeed at what we’re delivering for our skaters and the parents as well. We need them and they need us too.”

Some of the skaters will be heading out to Edmonton for competitions this weekend.
