The Hillcrest Ladies Golf League’s Women Fore Women golf tournament is officially sold out.

One hundred women golfers will be taking to the Hillcrest Golf Course on Aug. 21 to raise money for scholarship funds for a Moose Jaw Grade 12 female student.

“It is for a young girl who is continuing her education who was an outstanding athlete during their high school career and are also involved in community events,” said tournament committee member Bev Barber.

Last month, Ava Viczko from Vanier Collegiate was named the recipient of the $500 Women Fore Women Scholarship.

Viczko has been involved in soccer, badminton, track and field and she was the captain of the Vanier Women's Soccer team, leading them to a provincial title.

Viczko had a 97 per cent average and was been accepted to the University of Regina for the Kinesiology program.

“Because we didn't have a tournament last year, we only gave away one this year. But last year we did give away three. So, it all depends on how much we earn at the tournament,” Barber said.

This is the second year that the Women Fore Women tournament has taken place. The first tournament took place in 2019, but the 2020 version had to be canceled due to the pandemic.
