Vince Young attracted a lot of eyeballs on Sunday.

The former NFL quarterback took several snaps under centre on the first day of Saskatchewan Roughriders training camp in Saskatoon.

"I thought there was a lot of energy on both sides of the ball, and from the coaches," Young told reporters Sunday afternoon. "There was a lot of learning (and) overall I thought it was a pretty good day."

The 33-year old Young, who hasn't played a down of professional football since 2011, is trying to replace Darian Durant at quarterback for the 'Riders, as Durant was traded to Montreal in the offseason.

"I think I've adjusted ok (to the CFL game)," Young continued, adding "I've just got to take it one day at a time."

The Roughriders will continue training camp through their final preseason game June 16.  They will host Winnipeg in preseason action June 10 at the new Mosaic Stadium in Regina.
