Kendall Robinson had dreamed about this moment since she began her cheerleading career. She wanted to get up on the world stage and take home the first-place prize with her team.

That is exactly what she did, when Regina’s Rebel Cheerleading Athletics cheer team, Smoke, took the title at the Cheerleading Worlds in Orlando, Fla.

This is the first time a team from Saskatchewan has ever won the world title, making it a very surreal experience for Robinson, "It was a dream come true, I remember when I first started cheer, I always wanted to be on a bigger team, and I think our entire team was amazed and we knew we could do it."

Robinson makes the drive to Regina several times a week for practices, "We were practicing three times a week and we went to a competition here in Moose Jaw and that is where we got our partial paid bid to Worlds," says Robinson.

Teams cannot compete at worlds without a bid. A partially paid bid gives your team money to help with the process of paying for Worlds expenses.

As for next year, Robinson says she plans to continue taking the mat with her teammates. "I was on the fence about it because I thought I was growing out of it, but the atmosphere for the gym and all my coaches really brought me back to it."
