Golfers braved a few rain showers on Saturday at the Battle Creek Adventure Park at Prairie Storm Paintball, but it was all for a good cause.

Over $1000 was raised for Journey to Hope’s mental health initiatives focusing on suicide awareness and prevention through the Mix 103 and The Mad Greek Mini Golf Tournament for Mental Health.

John Iatridis, owner of the Mad Greek, explained how the idea came about.

“I looked at Leslie (Campbell, station manager at Golden West Radio), we were sitting together at the restaurant one day, and I just said to her, and she's the brains behind it all I might add, and I said, can you come up with anything for us to raise some money and to help people that are going through mental health. As much as the pandemic sucks to go through, people go through worse every day,” he said.

He added that giving back to the community was very important to him.

“I'm proud to be a part of the community. The community does everything for all of us. The businesses in the downtown core and just the city generally, we have to all work together, the media, everybody,” Iatridis said.

The winning team was the Dirty Birdies team of DellAnn Perkin, Craig Perkin, Andy Befus, and Lynda Patterson.
